[01:43:22] @ MessiahForHire : I guess we should also think up a first guardian

It would probably be best if this guardian wasn't one of the kids' pets...

I agree.

Perhaps someone/something they all are associated with though. A teacher at the school they all go to? A local cop/other authority figure (if they all live in the same general area)? Something like that.

Also, thought up something for Jeanne's original title (IE her rank before she goes bonkers): Wary Warden or something similar.

Well it shouldn't be anything necessarily local. I mean, I know we haven't really thought about where they would live but for the sake of convenience I'd assume that, at the very least, we'd have a few in the US, with Joan in Canada...

For something that the first guardian be tangentially involved in... Do we REALLY need to explain it? All we need is for it to have communication with at least one of the kids; it's not really important how, as long as there's a connection. Of course, whichever kid was in communication with the guardian should be the one who has the Magic Cue Ball.

So they're scattered all over the place, wasn't sure how we were going to do that. So I'm presuming they've never actually met in person. (I guess that goes true for the original as well, as I doubt Jade's ever been off her island. Didn't think of that earlier. >_>)

Did Jade have a Cue Ball? I know Vriska had one that was connected to Doc Scratch for their session, but I don't remember one being in the kids'. It still works either way, but now I'm curious.

So we'll need one of the kids to have a cue ball. I'd argue Rick, Eris, or Adam.

Rick - is rich; he could easily have a billiards room.

Eris - has lots of little round fireworks, and a cue ball could get mixed up in the mess.

Adam - mentioned his computer blew up in a pesterlog. Could have been the cue ball...

I don't care who has it as long as someone does. If you think one of the other kids should, feel free.

As for who it is...

How did the kids meet? Through a roleplay forum or something? The Guardian can be that one guy who always acts like he knows something they don't and uses white text for no goddamn reason.

Or do two of the kids live relatively close together? It could be someone local to the two of them that they mention to the others. In Homestuck, I know the kids all know of Bec, even if none of them know he's Krypto the Superdog.

Or he could be the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

...disregard the last one. I don't know, just throwing ideas about.

At least in my own perspective, I already have Lygara living off being the crazy lady in the forest, so I'd prefer Evan to be more social and a bit better connected to the rest of the group - either locally close to one/some of the others or heavily involved in whatever online thing brought them together.

Given that he's the one who fracks up the prototyping I'm going to turn him down for being the one with the contact. I like the "cue ball blew up Adam's computer" idea personally.

Well the pesterlog with Joan and Adam has it where Kraden was messing with his computer, then sparks happened, then explosion. So I guess we gotta run it through Sy.

...IDE: Kids all met through some form of internet DnD, with the first guardian as their DM.

Ah right, Kraden breaks his computer.

That could be interesting. Maybe the trolls recognize the guardian's name when one of the kids mentions it offhandedly.

Because cue ball = guardian's presence, from what I gather. Jade and Vriska had them; they were both directly in contact with the guardian.

More on the guardian.

[00:40:36] @ Sparky : I think we should have a log set a few weeks before Christmas with all the kids - say after an RP session - where Matt introduces them to it
[00:40:58] @ Sparky : I kinda want to run with messie's idea that the guardian is their DM but they don't know it
[00:42:41] Face : That sounds like a good idea
[00:43:13] @ Drouth : I like that idea, tat way the guardian could be preparing them for Sburb.
[00:45:03] @ Sparky : Until we can come up with something better, DM's handle is sereneShepherd
[00:46:09] @ Drouth : I uppose our kids would go to him for advice as well.
[00:46:24] @ Sparky : maybe
[00:46:33] @ Drouth : Until they're all in the medium at least.
[00:46:43] @ Sparky : yeah
[00:46:57] @ Sparky : HH: ...wow, mention sburb and shep gets all quiet
[00:47:11] @ Sparky : HH: not still broken from what we did to your campaign?
[00:48:10] @ Sparky : HH: that castle was coming down anyway...it was like 10000 years old you said
[00:48:43] @ Drouth : aL: Leave it to you to demolish a building...
[00:49:22] @ Sparky : HH: i said...it was coming down anyway
[00:49:30] @ Sparky : HH: plus it was evil
[00:49:33] @ Sparky : HH: i am a paladin
[00:49:37] @ Sparky : HH: i destroy evil
[00:49:53] @ Sparky : HH: i would consider this evil well and thoroughly destroyed
[00:50:12] @ Sparky : (yes the Outlaw plays a paladin. it amuses me)
[00:51:32] Face : FS: You need to learn self-control, otherwise you're guaranteed to destroy something that we might actually need
[00:51:38] @ Sparky : (I propose their DnD shenanigans lead to countless noodle incidents and inside jokes. It will be our SBaHJ)
[00:51:49] @ Sparky : HH: i have self-control, thanks
[00:52:41] @ Drouth : aL: You have a remote detonator, there's a difference.
[00:52:42] Face : FS: That castle says otherwise
[00:53:12] @ Sparky : HH: the castle was fictional and the campaign was ending anyway
[00:53:19] @ Sparky : HH: and it took out the bad guy!
[00:53:28] @ Sparky : HH: and a few dozen NPCs
[00:53:33] @ Sparky : HH: but they're npcs
[00:53:43] @ Drouth : aL: And we should have been able to have fun with it!
[00:53:46] Face : FS: What about the goblins? The vegetarian goblins
[00:54:01] Face : FS: The ones who were supposed to give us the key to enter the tomb
[00:54:10] @ Drouth : aL: I didn't get to use any of the new weapons I bought!
[00:54:15] @ Sparky : SS: Those NPCs were people, you know. With backstories.
[00:54:27] @ Sparky : HH: shep...no one reads your backstories
[00:54:36] @ Drouth : aL: I do!
[00:54:45] @ Sparky : HH: no one who counts
[00:55:01] @ Drouth : aL: BLUH!
[00:55:05] Face : FS: I do, but only so I can rewrite them into something more interesting
[00:55:05] @ Sparky : HH: rick, dude...you're a bard
[00:55:19] @ Sparky : HH: bards exist to check traps and serve as meat shields
[00:55:34] @ Sparky : (...)
[00:55:40] @ Sparky : (...I forgot that's Sigrun's title)
[00:55:42] @ Sparky : (oh god)
[00:56:13] @ Drouth : aL: I was a bard.
[00:56:40] @ Drouth : aL: I multiclassed remember?
[00:57:25] @ Sparky : HH: right. a SPESHUL bard
[00:58:05] @ Sparky : SS: ...
[00:58:25] @ Sparky : SS: I'll...I'll just let you get back to discussing your computer game.
[01:00:24] @ Drouth : aL: Oh, that's right!
[01:00:40] @ Sparky : HH: yeah...the game
[01:00:51] @ Drouth : aL: Are you sure you don't want to join us?
[01:01:21] @ Sparky : HH: no...
[01:01:24] @ Sparky : HH: i'll play
[01:01:31] @ Sparky : HH: if that's what y'all want to do
[01:01:42] @ Drouth : aL: Not you, I'm talking to Shep.
[01:02:19] @ Sparky : SS: My role lies elsewhere, I fear.
[01:02:57] @ Drouth : aL: Dang.
[01:03:18] @ Sparky : SS: Are you certain you wish to play it?
[01:04:32] Face : FS: I believe there is much to be gained for us from playing this game together
[01:04:55] Face : FS: Like a lesson in cooperation, trust, and...oh I don't know, self-control
[01:05:27] @ Sparky : HH: fuck you
[01:05:51] @ Drouth : aL: We're certain.
[01:06:16] @ Drouth : aL: Even if the paladin objects.
[01:07:09] @ Sparky : SS: Then I wish you the best in this.
[01:07:35] @ Sparky : SS: I hope that you will be equipped to face the consequences.
[01:08:26] @ Drouth : aL: I doubt they'll be any worse than what we've already been through.
[01:08:37] @ Sparky : HH: oh that wasn't cryptic at all
[01:08:43] @ Sparky : HH; the campaign's over, dude
[01:08:49] @ Sparky : HH: you can talk normally
[01:10:00] Face : FS: So long as we stick to a plan, there should be absolutely no trouble

So... re-reading the story again after watching the Jade flash, and reading AH's latest question/answer session, I noted yet another step in the entrance procedure - the various totem items that seem to be unique to each character: IE John's apple, Rose's bottle, Dave's egg, and Jade's piñata. Do we want to bother with this bit - at which each of us will need a unique item that is somehow of symbolic importance to the character - or just gloss over it?

Hm.

It seems like it'd be something neat to incorporate, but it would be yet another thing to come up with. I mean, Hivebent went fine without mentioning them.

I guess we can try and come up with things and scrap them if it gets too unwieldy or whatever.

Just posting it here, brought it up in chat but figured I'd put it here for posterity as well.

I'll be gone and out of state from Dec 23-Jan 2, meaning that Evan will be unplayed until I get back more likely than not. Consider him away on Xmas vacation and ready to start the game when he returns.

I think it'd be best to get a few logs prepped for proof that he's not been killed by Meteor (lol golbez).
